Nikki is an active freelance trombone player in Calgary and throughout Southern Alberta. She has performed with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, Calgary's Pro Musica Chamber Music Series, the Foothills Brass Quintet, and Altius Brass.
TEACHER

Nikki has taught trombone at all levels, beginner through college, for several years. She was Instructor of Trombone at the University of North Carolina Pembroke from 2011-2013 and at East Carolina University from 2012-2016. Since moving to Calgary in 2016 she has become a sought-after clinician in middle and high schools for trombone and low brass instruments.
EDUCATION

Nikki began her undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she was a student of H. Dennis Smith; she completed her degree in trombone performance at Boston University where she was a student of Scott Hartman. She earned her master's degree at Arizona State University where she studied with Gail E Wilson and John Lofton.

Nikki loves beautiful sounds! Being a musician is a privilege and a joy. Nikki excels at working with students and helping them to communicate through their instruments.
Nikki DoBell McCaslin is an active freelance trombone player and teacher. She is the principal trombone in the Red Deer Symphony Orchestra and is on faculty at the Mount Royal University Conservatory. She is the former Instructor of Trombone at East Carolina University and The University of North Carolina Pembroke. Nikki has been the principal trombonist in the Fayetteville Symphony and the second trombonist in the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra. Originally from Minnesota, she holds a bachelor's degree in trombone performance from Boston University and a master's degree from Arizona State University. Nikki has performed at the International Women’s Brass Conference, with the Calgary Philharmonic, Calgary Pro Musica, Foothills Brass Quintet, Altius Brass, the North Carolina Symphony, the North Carolina Opera, the Carolina Brass, the Minnesota Orchestra, the Phoenix Symphony, the Albany (NY) Symphony, and the Auckland (New Zealand) Philharmonic. She has recorded with the North Carolina Symphony, the North Carolina New Music Initiative, the Standard of Excellence Music Education Project, and has toured with the New Zealand Chamber Orchestra.
